50WW470 is a non-oriented electrical steel grade produced by Wuhan Iron and Steel (WISCO). The nomenclature defines its key properties: a thickness of 0.5mm ("50") and a guaranteed maximum core loss of 4.70 W/kg ("470") at standard measurement conditions (1.5T/50Hz).
This material is a soft magnetic, low-carbon iron-silicon alloy. The addition of silicon (typically 0.5-4.5%) increases electrical resistivity and maximum magnetic permeability while reducing coercivity, core loss, and magnetic aging. These properties make it an ideal material for manufacturing high-efficiency cores in transformers, motors, and generators.
